They need to make the store bought story skips…part of the game or give some alternative to skipping over content. I love FFXIV, but this is a waste of resources. However, the looming issue has been that new players want to advance to the current content immediately and this doesn’t address that fundamental issue.

So while you will get more XP per quest, there will be less quests.

They’re making it higher because they’re cutting a lot of content from the MSQ. Yoshi-P’s comments to seem to point at them having looked at *every* quest in the ARR MSQ to see where they can shorten them (and those comments seem to point at it largely being in the steps and objectives…small changes across a couple hundred quests makes for a big change in the end kind of thing) but we really won’t know a specific percentage until we can go through it and compare steps from before with those that will be required after.Īnd the only reason I’m pointing this out is that there are legitimately like 5 versions going around regarding what they are doing to the ARR MSQ, and none of them reflect accurately what has been said by the devs so far (some are close, at least one has been waaay off). The rest is getting streamlined to be less tedious, but we simply don’t know how much of a percentage that knocks off compared to what is in the game now. What they indicated was that 13% were removed from the MSQ entirely (no detail on exactly which ones, except that they were ones they felt didn’t “damage the story” or change it in a significant way), with a later interview clarifying that they were moved to optional side quests.

They’ve only given one percentage, and it wasn’t related to what is being streamlined/trimmed.

According to what we’ve heard/read: The 1-50 Main Story Quests (MSQ) will award more basic XP than before, and 10-20% of the quests will be trimmed or deleted.
